My backyard garden has always been my "happiest place on earth". As the enchantment of commuting to Seattle for my office job began to wear thin I spent more and more time in the garden. Soon there weren't enough neighbors to give away the food to so I began selling it here and there. This lead to a bigger and bigger garden and a new career. More than 20 years later growing vegetables is still my "happiest place on earth".
Crop rotation, natural vegetation zones, insect barrier cloth, hand picking and certified organic compounds when all else fails. Regular cultivation, hand weeding and hoeing, mowing, crop rotation and weed flaming.
